General Definition of Work Performs difficult administrative support work at the circulation desk, preparing materials for circulation, providing assistance to library patrons, maintaining records and files, and related work as apparent or assigned.
Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Librarian.

Examples of Duties Performs circulation duties; checks materials in and out utilizing automated system; processes and catalogs new materials; shelves and ensures materials are in order.
Assists the public and patrons with computer usage; answers questions; locates books and other materials.
Contacts patrons with overdue library materials; prepares overdue notices and files; processes bans on patron accounts with overdue materials; calculates overdue fees and ensures fees are paid in full.
Processes new book orders; checks invoice against order form; scans and enters appropriate information into computer; prepares spine labels, pockets and cards; processes and covers new books and other materials.
Answers telephone; directs callers to the appropriate staff; renews materials; places requested materials on hold; prepares faxes and copies; troubleshoots computers, printers, scanner and fax machine.
Registers new library patrons; updates and corrects patron registration information; issues new and replacement library cards.
Receives money for copies, lamination, overdue materials, lost or damaged books and replacement of cards; reconciles cash register; prepares related financial reports.
Reads to a variety of groups on an assigned schedule; assists with children and family activities and special projects as needed.
Prepares a variety of marketing materials, flyers and newsletters; updates and maintains bulletin boards.
Plans, organizes and implements the various program; plans and prepares documents, flyers and forms as needed; organizes volunteers for the program; gathers and organizes donations.
Performs open and close procedures for the library as required.
Cleans and maintains bathrooms as needed; removes garbage and recycling; dusts shelves.
May be assigned specific duties such as outreach, bookmobile, technical services, youth services, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities General knowledge of basic library procedures, methods and techniques; general knowledge of the library circulation functions; general knowledge of office procedures and records maintenance techniques; general knowledge of and interest in books including reader interest levels; skill in the use of library equipment, materials and resources; ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment; ability to operate standard office and computer equipment and perform basic word processing and data entry; ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with library patrons and associates.
Physical Requirements This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions, frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting and occasionally requires climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and tasting or smelling; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a quiet location (e.

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in library work or other work dealing with the public, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Supplemental Information Valid driver's license.
The Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program is intended to encourage individuals to enter and continue to work full-time in public service jobs.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
